Role: Finance Analyst
Contract Length: 3 months
Location: Hybrid/London (Waterloo) – the team works in a hybrid (home/office) format with office base in Central London at Waterloo. Candidates must be willing to attend the office every day for the first few days. Although the option to work from the office base will always be available, the requirement to do so is likely to be less often for the remainder of the assignment.

Spinwell is recruiting for a Finance Analyst for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE FINANCE ANALYST

  • Assist the Finance Manager the monthly financial reporting, which is to include monthly transactions review, posting journals (accrual and re-code), Internal Programme Board Reporting.
  • Assist the Finance Manager in the financial year end activities and budget reconciliation.
  • Reconciliation of the summary of the invoices from main suppliers.
  • Preparation & review of documentation and reports as part of the governance of the Finance team
  • Efficiently maintain finance and administrative office systems for the programme, both electronic and paper-based as required.
  • Set up and maintain various monthly reconciliations
  • Pursue and resolve queries relating to the programme involving the DHSC and SWAST finance systems.
  • To process invoices from suppliers for payment within agreed processes and to agreed timescales. This involves receipting on the DHSC D365 system and the SWAST Oracle finance system, passing on all invoices to AP and logging all paid invoices and filing accordingly.
  • Dealing with enquiries related to payments and invoices as required within agreed timescales. This involves replying to credit controllers and liaising with the Accounts Payable teams.
  • To efficiently maintain the process of raising invoices to 13 regional Ambulance Service NHS Trusts. This involves, processing and validating invoices relating to contracts, ensuring accuracy, correct coding, and alignment with contract schedules and milestones.
  • Match invoices to purchase orders, statements of work, delivery notes, or technical acceptance certificates.
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies by liaising with suppliers, project teams, and procurement.
  • To chase up payment of the invoices issued by the client on a monthly basis
  • To process orders from the 13 regional Ambulance Service NHS Trusts, maintaining and keeping a record of all orders, including monitoring delivery status of the orders, being first point of contact for all order related inquiries
  • Recommend improvements to financial systems, processes and reporting templates.
  • Support efficiency and cost-saving initiatives across client.
  • Provide training and guidance to project staff on financial procedures and best practice.
  • The post holder will undertake such other duties as may be required commensurate with grade and experience.
  • The post holder will be expected to act with full regard to the requirements of the Programme's policies and procedures, including those relating to Health and Safety, Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions.

 

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE FINANCE ANALYST

  • Qualified Accountant
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in Finance
  • Practical experience of using excel
  • Experience of reconciliations
  • IT skills including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook)
  • Strong excel skills
  • Month end process
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent numeracy
  • Attention to detail
  • A high level of communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain working relationships within the Programme
  • Ability to manage and prioritize workload and work to deadlines (excellent time management skills)
  • Ability to analyse and consolidate financial information
