Spinwell is recruiting for a Safety Engineer for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SAFETY ENGINEER

As a Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting in the delivery of Acquisition Safety policy and solutions. It involves through life management of project safety risk management delivery in support of safe and suitable equipment, systems, and services to Front Line Commands.

Specialisms associated with this Skill Group/Success Profile are: System Safety Policy and Governance; System Safety Management; and System Safety Assurance and Audit

 

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE SAFETY ENGINEER

  • Have some experience of providing technical advice and delivery of successful engineering outcomes; and
  • As a minimum hold either: A Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Mathematics based qualification at RQF Level 3; or Professional registration as either:
    • Engineering Technician (EngTech) or
    • Registered Science Technician (RSciTech).

Note: Alternatives to RQF listed above (which cover England, Wales and Northern Ireland only), are the Scottish SCQF; or an international equivalent qualification, which must be supported by a statement of comparability from UK ENIC.

  • Determine correct technical legislation, regulation, standards, policies, and processes to use and follow during acquisition and support to equipment.
  • Determine the most effective and efficient ways to process data.
  • Select suitable communication methods.
  • Resolve potential conflicts between stakeholders.
  • Take appropriate action in reacting and responding to routine issues (such as reporting safety incidents, suggesting efficiency benefits).
  • Conduct analysis on products or process and identify the correct action to rectify issues identified.
  • Recommend timely decisions related to accuracy and efficiency of your own work and others, and the ability to establish priorities and work sequencing.
  • Escalate risks at the appropriate time to meet all regulatory requirements, including where and when to safely quarantine equipment/products.
  • Plan and manage your own time, to deliver at pace.
  • Decide and implement the correct action for coaching and supervision required for junior and/or equivalent graded staff that you may work with.
  • Identify your own shortfalls in knowledge and discuss appropriate options for self-development, setting short and medium priorities
