Role: Senior Database Developer
Contract Length: 3 months
Location: Remote working (Need to collect laptop from Bradford)

Pay Rate to Intermediary: £21.66 per hour + holidays + pension
Spinwell is recruiting for a Senior Database Developer for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SENIOR DATABASE DEVELOPER
- To lead the provision of technical solutions for continuous improvement of the Trusts Data Warehouse as the ‘single source of truth’ for all internal / external reporting and analytical requirements
- Deputise for the datawarehouse Manager as required and in co-ordination, with other Senior BI Managers
- To lead and oversee the data designs and database management of the Trust data warehouses and other local databases, at a technical level.
- Work to provision a secure technical environment, ensuring data integrity and technical correctness, in line with National and local standards, is maintained at all times.
- To ensure a high standard of Business as Usual (BAU) activities are continuously maintained in relation to critical database; administration, optimisation, back up and recovery, upgrades and troubleshooting.
- To develop and advise on database standards and best practice protocols to senior management and colleagues across the Trust.
- Work collaboratively with database management experts in other healthcare organisations to devise common data management protocols and share best practice
- Attend local, regional and national meetings and events as necessary, representing BI as a technical expert.
- Provide advice, guidance and training to other team members in the wider Business Intelligence function, in the production of databases and database-driven applications, to ensure that data quality is achieved, best-practice methods are adopted and data definitions are adhered to.This will include coaching and support of junior members of staff.
- To be the technical lead in the development / adoption of new standards in the area of databases and data interfacing
- To plan the development strategy for the trust data warehouse in order to ensure that the system is constantly future proofed and enhanced proactively to meet the trusts future data needs.
- To ensure essential data continues to be available for mandatory data returns, and provide robust processes for accurate and complete data submissions, to commissioners and other external agencies.
- To lead on and oversee the continued integration of data flows from multiple other disparate clinical systems.
- To design and maintain data warehouse architecture and presentation layer(s) enabling innovative business intelligence and analytics in near real time.
- To support the wider Business Intelligence function in the development of a core portfolio of information reports to meet the strategic and business needs of the organisation and its clients.This includes time sensitive reports that impact on patient treatment and care pathways and contractual reports essential in order to receive funding from the CCG.
- To be fully aware of NHS changes in Data Standards and how they affect the information being collected and identify options to ensure compliance
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE SENIOR DATABASE DEVELOPER
- Extensive and proven working experience of enterprise / organisation wide database management and SQL reporting
- Proven experience in the construction, development and maintenance of a large scale Data Warehouse
- Significant experience in designing and executing ETL and data migration strategies aligned to business need
- Proven, significant experience in using a range of of reporting services technologies including OLAP,in Business Objects and/or Microsoft Reporting
- Significant experience of NHS/Healthcare information
- Significant experience writing and using advanced T-SQL
- Experience leading and managing a team of informatics specialists including; recruitment, appraisals, training and development activities
- Experience in designing and embedding new data flows end-to-end from supplier liaison to testing, change control and execution
- Proficiency in using a range of of reporting services technologies including OLAP,in Business Objects and/or Microsoft Reporting Services
- Advanced analytical, numerical and technical skills in the manipulation of complex databases
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills in managing delivery of a complex, varies, time dependant and unpredictable workload.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a motivated team
- Expert communication skills, able to translate highly complex technical issues to a wide audience both verbally and in writing
- Highly developed presentation skills, able to negotiate with senior stakeholders and influence agreement on technical solutions to complex data issues
- Expert problem solving skills, able to convert business requirements into successful technical solutions aligned to end user needs
- In depth understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality protocols / compliance
- Understanding of equality and diversity issues and how this affects patients, visitors and staff
- Understanding of what the NHS Constitution means to you, and your responsibilities to the public, patients and colleagues.
- Expert Knowledge of reporting services technologies including OLAP, Business Objects and/or Microsoft Reporting Services
- Demonstrative knowledge in using Integration Services
- Detailed expert knowledge of NHS Information Standards including the NHS Data Dictionary
- An excellent understanding of hospital / healthcare processes,practices and regulatory information reporting requirements
- Expert knowledge of Data Warehousing / Data processing principles and best practice
- Detailed knowledge of database design, maintenance and administration in a Microsoft SQL Server environment
- Knowledge of NHS information, EPR and PAS systems i.e. Cerner Millennium, CRIS, Galaxy, Medway etc.
- Educated to degree or masters level in an information-related discipline or equivalent experience in delivery of the responsibilities described at senior management level
- Evidence of relevant continuous professional development in a specialist informatics area
- Microsoft SQL Server Certification
