Role: Platform Engineer
Contract Length: 6 months with possible extension(s) - No contract length is guaranteed.
Location: Hybrid/Edinburgh or Glasgow – Onsite collaboration when required depending on project/team requirements. We envision some of the team activities to take place at either in Edinburgh or Glasgow, for at least part of each week
IR35: Outside
Pay Rate to Intermediary: £476 per day
Security Clearance: BPSS
Spinwell is recruiting for a Platform Engineer for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PLATFORM ENGINEER
An experienced platform engineer is required to assist the client to support and enhance the existing storage and compute platform. This includes implementing efficiency savings and additions to the existing platform.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE PLATFORM ENGINEER
Significant and demonstrable commercial experience in the following areas:
- VMWare 6/7/8.X multi-site environments
- Cisco UCS
- NSX environments
- Platform monitoring solutions and paradigms
- Fibre Channel Fabrics, including Brocade switching
- Disaster recovery planning and execution, including wider assurance activities
- Data centre management and best practices
- Windows and RHEL operating systems
- Infrastructure as code, including automation using a combination of ansible, powershell/powercli, bash, perl and/or python
- Grafana
- Agile working practices, including Kanban
- Cross-functional DevOps environment
